Perspective

Shifting your perspective will, in most cases, help with difficulties such as: Dealing with an adverse situation or difficult person, gettingĀ  a new job, promotion or deal. In business a change of point of view could make a dramatical difference, viewing things from the clients perspective could mean closing a deal. In life coaching, changing your state of mind could make you believe more in yourself and provide you with the needed confidence to face daily dilemas. By changing your actions you could be viewed in a different light by those around you, being more understood and gaining the support of your team, family, etc.

This re-framing is often project specific and works for a particular issue, it is very effective and you can apply it time and time again. Is not so much about changing you but about learning to see things in a different light, changing your shoes for those of the person in front of you.

Some of our perspectives define an outcome, if we are convince that someting is “too hard” we are unlikely to try it out and consequently we will never know the real outcome. There may be many reasons why we feel it is too hard, some of which could be based on evidence like past experience. Working through the reason that give you this perspective will be a great way of getting to know you deeper and perhaps allow you to try new experiences giving you new insights and making you grow as a person.

As I list some of my reactions, convinctions and fears I realised that some of these fears where preventing me from doing something that was important to me, looking for a better fitted perspective has allowed me to end with some of the fears and help me to understand and accept others.

Try it our, list a few of the perspectives that get you down and try to change it to one that makes you feel good. Work out what steps you need to take to travel from one to the other.
